Smartmusic Assignment Expectations
Students are expected to practice assigned music by signing into their Smartmusic program weekly.
There are two types of assignments:
1. Sight-Reading Assessments
2. Repertoire Practice
On all Smartmusic Assignments, students are graded on completion, not the score that Smartmusic gives. Smartmusic is used in chorus primarily as a practice tool rather than for assigning grades.
On Sight-Reading Assessments, students will have 30 seconds to examine the example, then will do their best to sing what is shown. Note: They do not have a chance to re-do it once it's recording - it will submit right away! If the student has completed their assignment on time, they will earn a "Meeting." Completing the assignment late will earn a "Progressing," and not completing it at all will earn a "Not Meeting."
On Repertoire Practice assignments, the expectation to earn a "Meeting" is to EITHER:
1. Score a 90% or better
OR
2. Practice for ten minutes and submit their best take
Students should ALWAYS use headphones while doing their Smartmusic assignments to ensure that the feedback the program gives them is accurate.
